Shoeast

Shoeast is a terminated research project led by Juraj Suska, focused on the evolution of footwear design in communist Czechoslovakia between the years 1945 and 1989.

The research began as a dissertation at Tomáš Bata University and was defended in 2018. As one of the results, a unique collection of historical footwear consisting of more than 300 models from this period was created.

The work was followed by a research project in cooperation with the Footwear Research Centre (UTB) which aimed to digitise whole collection. The project was conducted between the years 2019 and 2020 under the lead of Juraj Suska.
