Shoeast Marathon
Shoeast is a dissertation project defended in 2018. The project is focused on the historical research of shoe design in communist Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1989.
The presented Marathon shoes were created in cooperation with the Slovak footwear manufacturer ZDA, and the design is based on the popular Marathon model produced in the 80s of the last century.

.
HERITAGE
Marathon were very popular running shoes produced in Czechoslovakia in the 80s of the last century. The footwear was produced and marked under the brands ZDA, Botas and Svit and was produced in dozens of modifications and in many color variations.
My goal was to redesign this traditional running shoe and preserve its basic values such as durability, comfort and aesthetic appearance.

DURABILITY TESTING
The original Marathon shoe became famous for its durability and excellent performance, especially in trail running. In order to preserve this value in our new product, I decided to test it on several extensive outdoor runs, including the Kilimanjaro Marathon (42 km, Tanzania), the Xiamen Marathon (42 km, China) and the Ponitrian Hundred (105 km, Slovakia). The shoes have held up excellently.
